MANICS PETITION MOVEMENT LAUNCHES WEBSITE

JAKARTA – Indonesian Manics Maniacs decided to quickly launch their official website, www.bringmanics tojakarta on Saturday (4/10). This website was initiated by a group of Manic Street Preechers fan and audience who are striving to bring the socialist Welsh cult band to our motherland.

Why Manics? The English band had forecasted “Tsunami” long before the natural disaster took place. Recently, they have also proven that their forecast on an impending economic crisis, the biggest to hit USA since 1930, through “The Second Greatest Depression” to also be true. We think that the best band is one that has the ability to see the future and not the one that dwells in a nostalgic daydream of the past. This why Manics must be brought to our homeland. “The Second Monetary Crisis?” Uhm.

The method of the movement’s fight is collection as many online petitions that will be directly delivered to the promoters. What’s unique is that the movement doesn’t prepare mere blank petitions. Those who signed the petition would be asked to fully commit to their statements by purchasing Manics’ concert tickets. Therefore, those sigining the petitions are asked to include their valid e-mail address and mobile phone numbers to allow contacts. All contact data entries are protected and will not be sold to a third party (except for the use of promoters).

Bring Manics to Jakarta is not a formally structured fan club organization. There are no official heads, program gatherings, meetings in any kind, MLM or such, but it is guaranteed to have a team of lobbyists that are quite perfecly connected to all infra- or suprastructures within the local showbiz and music industries.

This movement is a mere strategic alliance from the fans of Manics who voluntarily participate in order to achieve a communcal goal: to see the Manics Street Preachers in Jakarta! Whenever it is! All of the participatory activities will take place in the internet. It is open for volunteers and any forms of donations to keep the mission going.

As background information, Manic Street Preaches is officially reported to be coming and performing in Singapore (24 November), Hong Kong (26 November) and Bangkok (30 November 2008). Unfortunately, Indonesia, which throughout the year has been bombarded by concerts from international artists, will not be on the agenda.

Rumor has it that a prominent promoter refused to bring Manics to Jakarta for fear that the band was no longer a marketable sell in our motherland. This counter-revolutionary response became one of the triggers for Bring Manics to Jakarta’s reaction. Another trigger activator was the need to save our pockets and prevent Singapore from being the main concert arena of Southeast Asia.

And if you tolerate this, your children will be next!

Govt declares seven days of national mourning

    "President Yudhoyono last declared a three-day national mourning period on Dec. 27-29 in 2004 for the thousands of people in Aceh and Nias who were killed in the indian Ocean tsunami on Dec. 26.
    President Megawati Soekarnoputri announced one day of national mourning on Nov. 15, 2002, after 202 people, mostly foreign tourists, were killed in terrorist bombings on Bali on Oct. 12."


In my naive yet honest conclusion, the government honored Soeharto more than those thousands of people who were killed by the tsunami and terrorist bombings.
FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! SEVEN DAYS??? HE'S JUST A PERSON WHO DEVELOPED THIS COUNTRY AND THEN DESTRUCTED IT!!! IS HE'S REALLY THAT BIG COMPARED TO THOSE THOUSAND OF INNOCENT PEOPLE DIED ON THE TSUNAMI AND BOMBINGS?

Jam 12 malam kurang lima menit gue iseng nyalain TV dan yang pertama tampak adalah TPI yang sedang menyiarkan pengajian2 untuk mendoakan Soeharto. Seorang ibu-ibu yang diwawancara berkata sambil tersipu "Wah sedih sekali yah kita kehilangan presiden yang sebaik itu. Ya... walaupun presiden kan pasti punya kekurangan dan kelebihan juga, namanya juga manusia. jadi kita maklumi dan maafkan saya kekurangannya..." (Saking 'cengo' dan kagetnya gue mendengar itu, gue sampe hafal dan sanggup mengutipnya di sini. Sementara si Ibu, senyam senyum seolah karena bangga masuk tipi... lhaaa, katanya berduka???)

Aku tertinggal jauh...

Sudah berapa langkah lagi aku tertinggal? Sementara hasratku telah tersoak-soak tertinggal di belakang. Ah bodohnya bodoh yang paling bodoh ketika kau lupa akan kekuatan sendiri. Sehingga perlahan ia tersapu olah penjara pikiran dan mulai kehilangan kegilaannya...

Dan panas hati, sedih pikiran, jatuh mental kala aku melihat rival-rival telah bersalin karya-karyanya lagi dan lagi. Aku masih tertinggal di titik nol.

Aku terperrangkap, ditakut-takuti oleh ketakutanku yang paling besar. Adalah menjadi bukan siapa-siapa di tengah tengah gemulai makhluk-makhluk indah. Sementara mantera-mantera kata betebaran di mana-mana, tak satupun aku tangkap dan kusimpan di pagina-pagina elektronik ini. Bodoh ini bodohnya siapa?

Aku butuh kamus.
Aku butuh kartu anggota perpustakaanku yang mereka rampas dengan paksa ketika aku lulus.
Aku butuh laptop baru yang bisa melekat pada jari-jemariku.
Aku butuh lebih banyak membaca dan belajar lagi.
Aku butuh mengenal diriku sendiri, lebih lekat lagi!
