I've been a feminist since I was in the elementary school. I once punched the nose of a friend just because he said "Boys are better than girls... because girls don't have penis!" I was furious, I pushed him and hit his nose real hard. Since that day on I've known what I'm fighting for in life. Equality.
Since when "owning a penis" becomes that parameter in deciding which one is better? Sooo illogical. It's the same thing when my friend said that because Eve was made of Adam's rib then she is below Adam. Oh come on... Adam was made from dirt and dust! I do believe the myth about Adam and Eve. However, just because Eve was made from Adam's rib doesn't mean that she's lower than him. Anyway, give me one sentence from Bible that stated that "woman is lower that man" explicitly, then I'll shut my mouth. Women may be full-time housewives, or a full time mother, doing domestic chores, yes they may (But I don't agree saying that is their duty in life, they ought to do that, or they have no other choice. It's juts a matter of choice, and there're a lot of choices in life, including domestic housewives and full time mother) Women may be whatever they like in life, but never be 'below' men! Never! A housewive can be a feminist too. All feminists ever wish for is just equality.
Equality. Why it is so hard to be accepted? What is men feared of? they had everything they want. They already rule the politics, echonomy, and social world. It's actually not the men we are fighting with, they are not to blame. It's the social contruction that made the world like this. Okay.. okay... lets again talk about equality. Why it is so hard to be true? Lets get rid of feminist issues first. Now I just speak as a humanist. I believe that every human being; no matter they are men, women, blak, white, asian, rich, poor, whatever.... are equal.
I know what I'm fighting for in life. I've met a lot of people that disagree with feminism but I get used to it, they just don't understand that they are living in a socially-constructed-life and they're having a pathetic socially-constructed-mind. I'm used to those kind of people and I know how to deal with it. However, all become different when the one who said such a thing was the one you love.
Then I become speechless.
